Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) is a Crime Against Humanity

‘Every year across Scotland, around 65,000 reports of Domestic Abuse are made to the Police’

‘Almost 90% of women who experience Domestic Abuse won’t report it to the Police’.

[Therefore an estimated total of 650,000 acts of Domestic Abuse occur annually].

Disclosure: Surviving Domestic Abuse. BBC Scotland.

According to the Office for National Statistics …//… of victimization and…//…Sexual Offences in England and Wales overview: year ending March 2022 …//… Crime Survey; this equates to an estimated …//… 798,000
women …//… victims of sexual assault (including attempts).

Violent crimes against the most vulnerable in society is a disaster on an enormous scale, which has to be overcome through education and drastic action to stamp these crimes out.

The UK figures exclude all of those VAWC crimes which go unreported and unpunished.

Service Dogs

Dogs Statistics 2022-23 According to:

- (Dogs Trust) There was an estimated 13 million dogs in the UK in 2023

- (petkeen.com/UK), 1.8 million dogs were abandoned in 2022

- A great many of these were in kennels and

- Tens of thousands of dogs are euthanized every year.

664,000 ...//… dogs [approximately] …//… enter UK animal shelters each year…//...
around 80,000 dogs are euthanized yearly (petkeen.com/UK…//… RSPCA)

When we consider that dogs were bred from wolves and trained by humans, dogs have done an amazing job with their multi-talented skills, which humans wouldn’t otherwise have had and we continue to benefit from today.

Service Dogs have been used for many years all around the world and GT believe that many of these very special dogs are capable of providing reassurance and saving more lives.

Typical Types of Family Guard Dogs:

All dogs vary in their nature and can respond to individual humans differently and so it is important to find a guard dog that responds best to their new owner.

As well as their family guarding abilities, shepherd type dogs are also excellent at guarding property against most
intruders.

Service Dogs:

One Example of matching a first-time owner with suitable size and temperament of a Service Dog type:
- German Shepherd
- Beauceron
- Rhodesian Ridgeback
- Doberman
- Great Dane

The above shortlist of dogs may be changed to include some that young or older children, visitors and their dogs, are friendly with.

The decision to accept a dog is completely optional.

GT aim to provide several VAWC residential villages in Scotland and the rest of the UK, each with a staffed community support center (and Trained Service Dog’ center, as required)
